Newsletter #23
Hello Friends
The other day I was listening to a former N.F.L. coach make the statement
"A goal without a plan is nothing more than a wish."
How many of you will say I need to get stronger, more fit, lose weight, eat better, be healthier etc. etc?
Do you have a plan to achieve your goals or are these just wishes?
There are no shortcuts, no quick fixes. Doctors, dieticians and even plastic surgeons will all tell you exercise and a balanced diet is essential to a healthy life style.
Will you be one of those people that start the New Year, and a New Decade planning to improve your appearance, and your health? Will you make a plan to reach your goals or is this just a wish?
Things you should know to develop a plan and reach your goals for the New Year.
Losing those extra pounds can help reduce your blood pressure significantly. Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. Losing just 10 pounds can help reduce your blood pressure significantly.. Besides shedding pounds, you should also keep an eye on your waistline. Carrying too much weight around your waist can put you at greater risk of high blood pressure. In general, men are considered at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 40 inches And women, in general, are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 35 inches
Regular physical activity for at least 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). If you've been sedentary, increasing your activity can lower your blood pressure within just a few weeks.
Exercise can be a great way to lift your mood and improve your emotions. When you exercise, your body feels more relaxed and calm.
When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. These chemicals all work together to make you feel good. In addition, after exercising you may feel a sense of accomplishment and your muscles will relax deeper because of the workout – easing tension and strain.
Studies show that exercise can help improve mood temporarily in depressed individuals. In fact, for people with mild or moderate depression, 30 minutes of intense exercise can be as effective as medication for improving mood. People who do not respond to depression medications may show improvement in mood when they exercise.
Physical activity delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. In fact, regular physical activity helps your entire cardiovascular system. The circulation of blood through your heart and blood vessels work more efficiently. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you'll have more energy to do the things you enjoy.
Start your New Year right improve the quality of your life now and for your future.
